[01]Intel gathered
For 50 years, Metro has been part of the visual language of the DMV. Its map, pylons, stations, and architecture hold decades of memories and meaning for the people who use the system.
But that affinity had never been fully realized as a brand experience. Merchandise was more a collection of products than a way to deepen Metro’s relationship with the region.
The challenge wasn’t getting people to know Metro. It was giving them a way to express their relationship with it and the DMV.
[02]The angle
Metro was already more than a transit authority. It was a marker of where you lived, how you moved, and what it meant to call the DMV home.
So we approached Metro like a modern retail and fashion brand, building a connected merchandise and activation platform around the symbols, stations, and moments people already knew and loved. Seasonal collections, limited-edition drops, commemorative SmarTrip cards, collectibles, pop-ups, and partnerships turned that shared affinity into something people could wear, collect, and experience.

[01]the fine print
This wasn’t built with a one-off merch drop. Over time, we helped Metro create an entirely new retail capability — sourcing and evaluating hundreds of vendors, manufacturers, and creative partners while developing products designed to be purchased, not simply given away.
We built a steady rhythm of seasonal collections, collaborations, limited releases, and physical experiences that gave customers a reason to keep coming back.
It all came together for Metro’s 50th Anniversary, when decades of Metro history were reimagined into something current, limited, and worth lining up for — with featured products selling out and the June 2026 pop-up becoming Metro’s highest-selling ever.
